Au travers de ses courts métrages, Richard Kern dénonçait l'Amérique de Reagan, mélangeant la violence, le sexe et le nihilisme punk, accompagné de stars telles Lydia Lunch, Henry Rollins ou Sonic Youth."Les films de Kern sont à la fois un doigt enfoncé dans la rétine du spectateur et une exploration du pouvoir.
